The valley of the Oule.

The walk first goes through the pretty village of Cabrières-d'Avignon where you pass the castle of Cabrières-d'Avignon. After a short climb you arrive at the plague wall. The plague wall was built in 1721 as a sanitary barrier to stop the spread of the plague that ravaged Marseille and Provence. This dry stone wall stretched for about 27 kilometers, from Monieux to Cabrières-d'Avignon. Along the wall were guardhouses and guard houses, manned by soldiers who guarded the border and had to prevent any unauthorized passage. You follow a section of the restored wall for a while and then head towards the Oule valley. Here you will certainly notice the beautiful Atlas cedars. At the viewpoint you have a beautiful panorama of the Coulon plain. Along beautiful forest paths and unpaved roads you return towards the village.
