In the vicinity of Mont Ventoux there are many remains of old quarries where ocher was exploited. This walk is less known by tourists, but it is a real winner. You will not only pass some ocher caves and old ocher quarries from 1885, but you will also have beautiful views of Mont Ventoux and the wide surroundings.

The ocher of Mormoiron.

The walk starts through vineyards to some caves in ocher sandstone. Then you walk through mixed forest to the impressive ravine des Sitos, also called Canyon d'Ocre. After you come out of the gorge, the next eye-catcher is the lake of Des Salettes. From the lake you walk through mixed forest and past vineyards with beautiful views along the way, including a view of the imposing Mont Ventoux.
