This moderate hike takes us into the hinterland of Polop around the Cabal and Sanxet mountains. Via undulating hiking trails we can enjoy beautiful views in the four directions: the Montgo, the Puig Campana and the Aitana.

The sleeping lion.
The silence and tranquility along the way is striking, even though Benidorm is not really far away. On the way we pass a cave: the Coveta de la Moscarde. Via an extra loop, of 4 km and with an altitude of 200 metres, you reach the top of the Ponoig (or the sleeping lion), but this is not an easy undertaking. Monte Ponotx or Monte Ponoig is a beautiful mountain formation in the Marina Baixa region and is part of the last foothills south of the Sierra de Aitana.
