From Somaniezo you walk on a wide dirt road through the valley of the Aniezo River to the hermitage of Our Lady of the Light at an altitude of 1274 meters. In the spring on April 24, when there is still sometimes more than a meter of snow, believers take the Virgin Mary to Somaniezo where she is worshiped for nine days. On May 2 she is carried in one day to Potes and the monastery of Santo Toribio and all the way back to Somaniezo to return to the hermitage the next day. This 24 km tour is one of the longest processions in Spain. After visiting the hermitage, you walk along quiet dirt roads through a beautiful natural scenery to the small hamlet of Luriezo to return to the starting point.
