A glacier lake and a Col.

This walking route has two faces, the first part goes to the beautiful glacier lake Lac Sainte-Anne and the chapel of the same name. The second part to the Col Girardin at 2699 meters is a bit more difficult, especially in wet weather the rocky path can be very slippery. You leave from the parking through the forest until you cross the Torrent du Tronchet. The terrain is now becoming more open and you will reach the Bergerie de l'Adoux via a wide arch. Now a quick climb over the Collet de Peillane and you will reach the beautiful lake at the foot of the impressive Font Sancte (3385 meters). Here you should definitely take the time to enjoy the surroundings. The water turns bright blue due to the dissolved loam. For the second part you follow the GR5 direction Col Girardin. The terrain is littered with boulders and you can see the Col from far away. At the foot of the Col, a final effort is needed to overcome the last rather steep stretch. From the Col you have a beautiful view of the lake. Those who still have some energy left can still go to the Tête de Giradin at 2875 meters. You return via the same path to the starting point.

POI 1 - Sainte-Anne chapel.

According to a legend, reckless young shepherds had tried to cross Lake Saint-Anne on an improvised raft propelled by the wind. They reached the center of the lake and the wind stopped. Whatever they tried, they could no longer reach the shore. At night, their concerned parents went looking for them and finally found them, still immobilized on the lake. The parents tried everything they could, but the raft remained in the middle of the lake. Desperately, they knelt down to pray for Sainte-Anne. Their prayers were heard and the wind rose again and brought the fragile boat back to the shore. As a thank you, a chapel was built on the shores of the lake.
