The prairie of the Saône.

The route takes you through a varied landscape of grasslands, riverbanks and canal areas. The prairie is particularly valuable for birds, especially during migration periods, and offers a colourful spectacle depending on the season. Due to its wet grasslands, ditches and small-scale agriculture, this area is an important habitat for many bird species, especially meadow and marsh birds, but you can also spot the stork and the Black Kite here. The Canal de Pont-de-Vaux, also called Canal de la Reyssouze, was built in the 18th century to better connect Pont-de-Vaux to the Saône for the transport of agricultural products. Today it is mainly used for pleasure boating.
