POI 1 - Pozos de la Nieve.

The Pozos de la Nieve, a kind of snow huts, were built at the end of the sixteenth century. In the winter they were stuffed with snow that hardened into ice. This ice was transported by horse and cart from May to September to the cities of Murcia and Cartagena. During this trip, 35% of the ice was usually lost. In a snow hut up to 1 million kilos of ice was stored. In total there are twenty-five snow huts, the first half being called Pozo de la nieve de Cartagena and the other half Pozo de la nieve de Murcia, depending on the city they provide.
