This route follows a large part of the route from El Cable to the Collado Horcados Rojos. You start the walk on a large wide dirt road that quickly turns into a real mountain path. Now you start a tough climb over rough terrain with debris slopes and large boulders. While climbing, don't forget to enjoy the rugged landscape of the Picos de Europa. After the steep climb you will soon reach the crossing of the path that continues towards Collado Horcados Rojos and the path towards cabaña Veronica. Just a last steep climb and you reach the cabaña Veronica with its eccentric manager. The refugio is an iron igloo that can accommodate 4 people including the caretaker and can only be reached by telephone in an emergency via other mountain huts or via the Guardia Civil in Potes. This fairly easy hike gives you a real sense of how rugged and desolate the Picos are. You return via the same path. Those who still have the energy can also go to the Collado Horcados Rojos (2344 meters) where you have a beautiful panorama on the massif of Urrieles.
