Halsche Beemden.

The Eikenhorst estate is an old estate laid out in the English landscape style, with water features that resemble natural waters with unexpected views towards the country house. The estate contains various monumental native oaks, beech, sweet chestnut trees and exotic solitary trees. The Halsche Beemden in the basin of the Essche Stroom has recently been completely redeveloped, a meander has been constructed next to the Essche Stroom. In the past, the Essche Stroom, which was called Halsche Water around 1900, was a considerably meandering stream. The meandering stream was straightened during the land consolidation (around 1960). This meander of almost 3 kilometers has been restored, inspired by the historical course from the period 1910-1919. The straightened stream has been preserved because more water is drained compared to the past. The meander will overflow its banks during wet periods. And at extreme high water the extra water will be drained via the straight stream. The walking tour ends via the Sparrenrijk recreational forest and the Molenwijk walking park with the beautiful Leijsenven.
