Vine grounds are marshy to permanently wet, high soils immediately adjacent to a fracture of the Peel edge fracture. The Peelrand fracture is part of a fracture zone that consists of several fractures that branch through the landscape. The Peelrand fracture is beautifully visible in the landscape due to the height difference in the landscape and the seepage of iron-rich water. The height difference is particularly noticeable from the wooden path build in 2018. The walking tour goes over the path of the lower situated drier grounds in the Central Slenk through the wetter higher ground in the Peelhorst. On the Peelhorst there is a less permeable loam layer beneath a layer of well-drained river sand and flows towards the Central Slenk. The fine cover sand in the Central Slenk also allows the water to pass through less quickly, so that it seeps to the surface like seepage water. Unlike what you would expect, the high soils are wet and the lower ones stay dry. This rare form of seepage is called pointing. The pointing grounds have been designated by the Province of Noord-Brabant as a Geological Monument. The Annabos is one of the few places where this phenomenon still comes to the surface and has not been plowed or drained away. The Bedafse Bergen is a forest area with a drifting sand ridge that originated in the Middle Ages and was planted with coniferous forest at the beginning of the 20th century. A large part of this walking tour goes through grassland and sturdy walking shoes are recommended on grass paths along watercourses.
