Heart of Drenthe.
From the parking lot, you immediately enter the pine forest, following a winding forest path where you'll frequently have to step over fallen trees. You'll arrive at a beautiful heathland with a lovely boardwalk. If you look closely, you'll see the Tjasker Grolloo, a small windmill, on your right. Once the wide boardwalk is behind you, you'll dive back into the woods. Every now and then you'll cross an unpaved forest road, but you'll continue following small forest paths until you reach a beautiful sandy plain. A boardwalk will take you across the plain and continue through beautiful mixed forest. You'll arrive at a heathland with a fen, and a little further on, you'll pass another fen with a wooden jetty—an ideal spot to enjoy the peace and quiet. Afterwards, you'll alternate between some more heathland and forest paths before returning to the main boardwalk. From here, you normally follow the forest path you used on the way there, but you can also simply follow the unpaved road parallel to the cycle path to the Blauwe Steen parking lot.

During wet periods the paths can become muddy.
Small forest paths with many trees lying across the path, so there is quite a bit of scrambling involved.
You can shorten the walk to 7 km if you start from the alternative starting point.
