Goldstein and Kipphorn.

From the starting point you walk through the valley of the Großer Zschandbach to the Altes Zeughaus. Behind the building you can go to the Teichsteinblick viewpoint. It continues along a beautiful forest path in the direction of the Golsteinaussicht viewpoint. Here you have a beautiful view of the Goldstein and the Lusatia Mountains. Turn off at the Katzenstein and walk to the viewpoint on the Kipphorn from where you have a beautiful view of the Elbe valley. The next destination is the Großer Winterberg at an altitude of 556 meters. You should not expect beautiful panoramas on the wooded mountain because unfortunately the observation tower is closed. You can take a break at the kiosk with a snack or drink. The return route goes through the valley of the Kleine Zschandbach with here and there a view of the rugged rock formations. After a short distance along the banks of the Kirnitzsch you reach the starting point again.

POI 3 - Großer Winterberg.

At 556 metres, the highest mountain in Saxon Switzerland is located on the right bank of the Elbe in the middle of the core zone of the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The upper part of the Großer Winterberg consists of basalt, which is covered with a typical beech forest. The base is made of bluestone sandstone. The mountain hotel at the top was built between 1840 and 1846 in Swiss style and is listed as a monument. The restaurant has been closed since the end of 2016. The historic icehouse, which was renovated in 2002, is used as an information center for the national park.
