Le Pouget

A walk with a special story. Le Pouget became a ghost village after the Second World War and it remained so until the 1960s, students from the European School of Brussels built up the village brick by brick. Le Pouget is now a village where many people spend their holidays because of the beautiful location. On the walk we also get acquainted with the voie Royale that was built in the 17th and 18th centuries to connect the region with the Auvergne. POI 1 - Le Pouget.

Le Pouget was a prosperous village before the Second World War. But after the war, the inhabitants left the hamlet despite the good geographical location for agriculture and it became a ghost town. The hamlet fell into disrepair until a group of students from the European School of Brussels in the 1960s began reconstruction. Brick by brick these young people have restored the hamlet. Now the houses are mainly used as holiday residences.
