Dolmen.

Short after you left the starting point you will arrive at the dolmen Cap del Pouech and then descend through an oak forest to the valley where the landscape is more open. Then you walk through the hamlets Lézères and Cazalas to follow the valley of Ruisseau de Camarade. Just before the hamlet of Camarade begins the climb to the Crête de la Quère where the dolmen of Couminge stands. The route now runs for a long time over the ridge and offers you beautiful views of the Toulouse plain. At the moment this path almost starts to get boring you reach the dolmen de Brillaud. The last part is a steep descent with a view of the village of Le Mas d'Azil and the Lac de Filheit.

POI 1 - Dolmen.

About fifteen dolmens have been discovered in the department of Ariège, eleven of them in the canton Mas-d'Azil. They are all similar in terms of architecture, especially two vertical stones, which support an impressive plate, but these megaliths differ in size and location. During excavations, a large number of human bones were found, but also different materials dating from the Bronze Age, providing precise information about the burial rituals of this period. On this trail you can view three of these dolmens: Cap del Pouech, Cominge and Brillaud. The remains are partially preserved in the Museum of the prehistory of Mas-d'Azil, especially the full teeth of a child.
