Oberbronn.
At the beginning of the route, you briefly follow the Falkensteinerbach stream, then immediately enter a beautiful mixed forest. You ascend through the forest to the ruins of Wasenbourg Castle. The castle is located at an altitude of 410 meters and dates back to 1275. Next to the ruins lies the Wachtfelsen rock, an ancient shrine dedicated to Mercury. After visiting the castle, you continue through the forest, passing the Jardin des Fées (Fairy Garden). Historians are convinced it was a fortified camp possibly used in 1398 during the siege of Wasenbourg by the troops of the Bishop of Strasbourg. A little further on, you'll discover mysterious goblet stones, formed by erosion or perhaps altar stones. Another mystery is the Witches' Square; according to local legend, the Witches' Square was a meeting place for witches from Oberbronn, who gathered there to perform rituals. A little further on, you'll visit the Tour Wasenkoepfel, a 10-meter-high tower at the summit of the Wasenkoepfel, dedicated to the poet and ethnologist Auguste Stoeber and built in 1887 by the Vosges Club. While you won't have a view from the tower, it's a beautiful spot to visit. From the tower, you descend to the viewing point at Buckelstein. Here, you'll have a beautiful view of the village of Oberbronn and the Alsace Plain. Continuing down, you'll arrive in the charming village of Oberbronn, with its beautiful half-timbered houses. From the village, you'll walk through the forest back to the starting point.
