Along strawberry trees.
Aguardente de Medronhos or simply Medronho is a distilled drink from Portugal, made from the fruits of the strawberry tree. These trees grow wild in the poor soils of the Alentejo and the Algarve. The fruits are mainly collected by farmers and then processed into medronho, a drink with an alcohol percentage of approximately 48%. The drink is not easily available through supermarkets. Although few farmers have a license, their activities are tolerated to maintain the tradition.
Take enough drinking water with you.
