Utrecht Estate.

The Utrecht is a mining estate that was created by the exploitation of heather fields. Around 1850, the area consisted of vast heathland that was created as a result of logging and over-grazing by sheep. After the invention of the fertilizer at the end of the nineteenth century, sheep became superfluous as a supplier of animal manure, and with that the heathland as grazing land was forested for wood production. The southeastern part of the Mispeleindse heath area still largely consists of unexplored heathland landscapes around the 't Goor and the Flaes fens. Along the beautiful large fen De Flaes stands d'n Flaes tower with a viewing balcony at 22 meters, around the tower are eight tree trunks from the estate, each about 25 meters long. From the tower you have a beautiful view over the fens and the surrounding forests.
