POI 2 - Landgoed d'Utrecht.

The forest consists mainly of Scots pine and European larch and supplied strutwood to the South Limburg coal mines. The Reusel valley meanders among the important nature reserves on the estate. This area is called De Hertgang. The hamlet of Dun is also located here, where De Bockenreijder is located. Next is the Wellenseind estate, through which runs a tributary of the Reusel, called De Stroom. The Wellenseind was partly mined in the 1920s by the Goirlese textile manufacturer Van Puijenbroek. Furthermore, the Mispeleindse Heide is an important nature area. There are large ponds such as De Flaes, Kleine Flaes and Groot Goor. They are surrounded by moist heathland. This is where the bell-fed gentian, bone fracture, swamp wolf's claw and white beak piping grow. The estate has more than 130 species of breeding birds. Although Fortis is still the owner of the estate, with the exception of a number of vulnerable nature reserves, the estate is open to the public.
