The Overasselt fever tree.
The Overasseltse and Hatertse Vennen is a beautiful fens area of approximately 520ha. The area consists of about twenty fens in the surrounding river dune, heath and forest area. The walk winds through the fens area, where a large number of the twenty fens will be visible. On the edge of the area, one passes the fifteenth-century ruin of the Sint Walrick Chapel and the adjacent pedunculate oak, which is venerated as the Overasselt fever tree.
