Costa Savolera.

The walk starts through a beautiful forest on the hunting trails of King Vittorio Emanuelle and, after a steep climb, allows you to enjoy the beautiful views of the glaciers and moraines in the area surrounding the Gran Paradiso. You return via the immense rubble fields of the Costa Savolera where you have a great opportunity to observe chamois. The Chabod Rifugio was built between 1982 and 1984 to support the overcrowded Vittoria Emanuelle Rifugio, but due to numerous new crevasses in the glacier, the route across the glacier has become much more dangerous. Only very experienced alpinists still dare to cross the glacier. At the refuge you will find a colorful mix of alpinists and day hikers. From the refuge, several difficult mountain tours are undertaken, such as the climb of the Herbetet (3778 m) and the Becca di Montandayne (3638 m). At the rifugio you can fully enjoy the panorama of the Gran Paradiso, the glaciers and moraines. High mountains at its best.
