Along the Rabenkanzel and the Jammereiche.

The medieval trail starts in the historic center of Herrstein. The richly decorated work houses from the 15th to the 18th centuries bear witness to the architecture of late Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. An ensemble of around 60 mansions under the Schlossund church is grouped around Rathausplatz. There are also picturesque alleys and the landmark of Herrstein, the old clock tower. A staircase takes the walker to the castle church, the Schinderhannesturm and then to the nearby Buchenwald. Soon the rolling hills of the Hunsrück with fields, meadows and forests become visible. Here you have a fantastic view over the Fleckenteppich with beautiful meadows and the Feldlandschaft. You cross the Hosenbach via a wooden bridge. An information board states that Saint Hildegard von Bingen was probably born in the nearby village of Niederhosenbach. A narrow path leads past this rock formation to the Rabenkanzel nature monument. On a hill you get a beautiful view of the rolling fields and the mighty Jammereiche. After a short forest pass you are back on a soft meadow trail with a beautiful view of the Hunsrückland.
