This short walk will introduce you to the mills of Daudet. Fontvieille became famous because the well-known writer Alphonse Daudet stayed here. Thanks to the Moulin de Daudet, he wrote his 'Lettres de mon moulin'. This mill now houses a museum in his honor. The route passes four tower mills and the Château de Montauban where Daudet stayed.
In the far west of the Alpilles lies a wooded nature reserve called Le Planet. This walk will introduce you to this vast area. You follow the GR6 partly with views of the plain of Arles and then descend via forest paths to a beautiful valley where you will almost certainly not encounter anyone.
This walk in the Les Alpilles nature park is one for the adventurers among us. Via the plateau de la Caume it goes in the direction of the famous Rocher des Deux Trous. The next goal is the Mont Gaussier that you reach via metal ladders and some secured passages. The view is fantastic. After a steep descent, you continue to the Lac de Peirou, where it is best to take a break before you start the climb to the "chimney". Along a few iron steps and secured passages you climb through a large hole in the rock to the other side of the mountain.
