Etang Du Grand Coulon.

Etang du Grand Coulon.
The Etangs of Outines and Arrigny are part of a vast natural area that was created by centuries of fish farming. Today they are protected and offer shelter to an impressive variety of birds. In spring and autumn, this is an important resting place for migratory birds, including cranes. The walk takes you past three observation huts at the Etang Des Landres and the Etang Du Grand Coulon. Along the shore of the Lac du Der you walk to the last observation hut at the Chantecoq car park. A walk for nature lovers looking for peace and quiet.

The walk immediately takes you into nature and takes you along a beautiful path to the first hide at the Etang Des Landres. The route then heads towards the hide at the Etang Du Grand Coulon. The route continues over a boardwalk and a beautiful forest path to a more open landscape where you can enjoy the beautiful undulating landscape. You eventually return to a wooded area and a hide on the other side of the Etang Du Grand Coulon. Through an open landscape you walk to the shore of the impressive Lac du Der, one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe. The lake was created in the 1970s as a water reservoir to regulate the river Marne. Along the southern bank you walk through a mosaic of open fields, reed beds and wet grasslands. Here you have a good chance of seeing birds of prey circling above the water, and if you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the majestic sea eagle that is regularly spotted here.
