Lac Vert

A very varied walk along two beautiful lakes, the Lac Vert and the Lac du Forlet. Then you climb to the ridge of the massif of Tanet. On the ridge you have beautiful views of the valley of Munster, the Black Forest and even on a clear day the Alps. The route goes through the Gazon Du Faing, a unique raised moor area.

Gazon du Faing.

The walk takes you over a beautiful forest path to the Lac Vert, from there continue to the highest lake in the Vosges, the Lac du Forlet. From the lake, you begin a steep climb to the ridge that crosses the Vosges from north to south. Here you walk a on the Gazon du Faing, a unique raised moor area. You follow the ridge and the beautiful viewpoints alternate. You have the most beautiful view from the Taubenklangfelsen at an altitude of 1299 meters. You descend on a stony path and then start the ascent of the Tanet at an altitude of 1292 meters. Through a beautiful forest you start the descent to the starting point where you can enjoy a nice terrace in the Auberge du Tanet.

POI 1 - Lac Vert.

Lac Vert is located on the Tanet massif at an altitude of 1053 meters. The surface is 7.2 ha. It owes its name to the reflection of the pine trees that surround it and to an alga that spreads from the end of June to the end of July.

POI 2 - Lac du Forlet.

Lake Forlet or Trout lake is located near the Gazon du Faing nature reserve. At 1061 meters above sea level, it is the highest of all the Vosges lakes. The Tanet (1292 m) and the Gazon de Faing (1306 m) are located high above the lake in a cirque. There is a nice picnic area on the edge of the lake or you can relax on the terrace of the Auberge du Tanet with a beautiful view of the lake and the surrounding area.

POI 3 - Gazon du Faing.

This nature reserve is located on the Lorraine side of the large ridge of the Vosges. Up to 1000 meters the forest consists of beech and spruce. Higher up is a unique raised moor area. Large granite boulders are scattered across the ridge.

POI 4 - Taubenklangfelsen.

The viewing point at the Taubenklangfelsen is located at an altitude of 1299 meters and the panorama is truly breathtaking. You have a view of the valley of Munster, the Black Forest and in clear weather even the Alps.

POI 5 - Le Tanet.

Le Tanet is a mountain on the ridge of the Vosges at an altitude of 1,292 m. Le Tanet overlooks the Combe du Valtin on the Lorraine side and the forests and old meadows of Lac Vert and the Altenbach valley on the Alsatian side.
