Land of a thousand ponds.

The La Brenne Regional Nature Park, nicknamed the "land of a thousand ponds," is especially well-known among birdwatchers, but nature lovers will also find plenty to enjoy. The walk follows a figure-eight pattern. From the parking lot, first walk back to the D17A and turn right, then turn left just before the houses in Blizon. You've now begun the first loop. You'll pass numerous ponds, through forests, and open countryside. Nearing Blizon, you'll pass the hide at the pond in Massé. Returning to the parking lot, you immediately turn right toward the Valmicky lake walkway. This beautiful boardwalk crosses the pond and, after a bend, emerges onto a dirt road. Continue through more open countryside toward the next hide. After your visit, you'll arrive at the next hide at the pond in Bénisme, about 200 meters further along. After your visit, walk a short distance along an unpaved road to the D17A. From here, follow the road to the parking lot, a less scenic section of the walk.
