This hike in the Vanoise National Park goes from the valley of Chavière to the Cirque du Genépi where the Genépi glacier can be seen from very close by. After a steep climb over the moraine, you continue on a beautiful panorama path in the direction of the Cirque d’Ariande. On this path you have a unique view of the Aiguille de Péclet (3561m), the Aiguille de Polset (3531m) in the southeast and the Grand Bec (3398m) in the north. The descent goes past the Chalet de Rosoire and the chalets of Ritort back to the starting point.

Cirque d’Ariande.
The walk starts from the Pont de la Pêche car park on a pastoral road to the hamlet of Montaimont. From there you go along the beautiful gorge of the Torrent du Genépi and you cross the Torrent de Genépi to start the climb over the moraine of the glacier du Genépi. In the Cirque de Genépi you have a beautiful view of the glacier. From here you continue on a panoramic path through the Cirque d’Ariande where you can often see chamois on the flanks. At the height of the Chalet de Rosoire you descend further to the chalets de Ritort. Here you pick up the route of the GR5 that takes you past the refuge du Roc de la Pêche back to the starting point.
