Between the Pointe Blanche and the Pointe du Midi.
You leave at the Col de la Colombiere and follow the well-signposted path until you reach the Lac De Peyre. After 20 minutes you reach the Chalets de la Colombière. Now the path goes steeply up to a grassy plain. The lake is not far anymore but it is hidden behind a ridge. At the lake you can see the path to the Col de Balafrasse very good. On the Col you have to be very carefull because the ridge is very narrow.

The Bornes massif is located in the French Alps. The Aravis chain is located southeast of the Bornes. This massif has higher peaks than the Bornes massif. In the SOIUSA classification of the Alps both masses are grouped under the name Prealpi dei Bornes. The highest point of the Aravis chain and of the larger Bornes-Aravis massif as described above is formed by the Pointe Percée. Thônes, the capital of the Aravis lies just east of the Bornes and is one of the centers of reblochon cheese production. On the west side of the Bornes massif lies the city of Annecy.
