POI 1 - Windmill Nieuw Leven.

The wooden windmill 'Nieuw Leven' is located close to the border of Meeswijk and Leut. An older mill was destroyed in a hurricane in 1800. The current post mill was built on the same site in 1801. The mill belonged to the estate of the Vilain XIIII family.

POI 2 - Vilain XIIII castle.

The history of the Meuse village of Leut is largely related to the history of the Vilain XIIII castle, which dominates the village centre. As early as the Middle Ages, the castle (then a fortress) was inhabited by the 'Lords of Leut'. Over the centuries, the medieval moated castle with two moats and a drawbridge evolved into an open residential building with a fixed bridge over the remaining moat, surrounded by a wide park in an English landscape style. The castle was sold to the Flemish Government in 2021 with the intention of renovating and giving it a new purpose.
