The walk immediately goes into the Broek nature reserve and you soon arrive at the chapel of Our Lady of the 14 bunders, where candles are always burning. During the harsh winter of 1760, a statue of Mary was encountered in Het Broek while cutting peat. The water in the pond where the statue of Mary is found does not freeze for a whole winter. Het Broek consists of numerous ponds that remind us of the former peat extraction. At the Putten van Lacourt you can take a look at the bird hide. The route continues along various ponds to eventually arrive at the Hazewinkel water sports course. You walk along the edge of this domain to the Biezenweiden nature reserve. At De Bocht there is a beautiful sofa where you can enjoy the habitat of the beaver. Via the dike on the Rupel you walk to the provincial domain of Broek De Naeyer. In this area you will visit two viewing huts where you can quietly spot numerous birds. The beaver and even the otter are permanent residents here. You walk back to the starting point through a more open landscape.
