The IJzeren Man.

The IJzeren Man is a wooded area with various beautifully situated fens such as the Kleine IJzeren Man, the Zwanenven, the Geurtsven and the Ducksven. De Kruispeel is a peaty bog area with original low and high moors, it is the remainder of an extensive heath and marsh area. De Kruispeel is located south of the Tungelroyse Beek and is not accessible. The stage passes a viewing platform with a beautiful view over the peel area and the Tungelroyse Beek. After this first encounter with a remnant of the Peel, the stage continues via the Vetpeelweg to the Laurabossen. The Laurabossen owe their name to the Laura mine in South Limburg (NL). There are therefore many Scots pines in the Laurabossen, such pines were used to support mine galleries. At the end of the stage you will pass a small farm with the name “Klein Karelke”. More about this in the second stage.
