Kampina Nature Reserve.
The Kampina is a varied nature reserve with extensive heathland and coniferous forest areas with many fens. Centrally located is a large heathland with numerous fens such as the Belversven, more sheltered are the Huisvennen and the Zandbergsvennen. The walking tour winds along the Huisvennen, around the Belversven to the Nemerlaer estate. Nemerlaer estate is an estate with a castle, stately avenues and a lot of flowing water, it owes its name to the Nemer, the stream that flows through the estate. Nemerlaer Castle is a 14th century castle. In the estate there is a fen called Beeldven that was originally called the Gagelrijsven. The Burgundian baron Donatus van den Bogaerde of Terbrugge wanted to be buried with his housekeeper Koosje on an island in the fen. In anticipation of this, he had two statues placed on the island. Because it was not consecrated ground, he was not buried on the island after his death in 1895. Years later, seminarians from Haarendaal accidentally stumbled upon the statues while skating. Because they were nudes, the statues were torn from their pedestals and placed on the ice. After lighting a fire, the fragments quickly sank to the bottom. After leaving the estate, the walk in Oisterwijk continues through a narrow park along the Voorste Stroom.
