Cliffs of Pimiango

In addition to beautiful views of the sea and the Picos de Europa, this beautiful walk also has other highlights to offer. The ruins of the monastery of Santa Maria de Tina, the hermitage of San Emeterio and the cave of Pindal are some of them. But the adventure really starts when you head to the cliffs along goat paths where you have beautiful views as well as erosion-ridden rocks such as the Cala El Regolgueru.

Cala El Regolgueru.

From the starting point you walk in the direction of the Mirador Del Pico Del Cañón viewpoint. Here you have a beautiful view of the Deva River and the Picos de Europa. You return via the same path to follow a part of the GR E9 afterwards. You pass a beautiful viewpoint with picnic bench. You now start a steep descent on a concrete path. You will pass through a deciduous forest where eucalyptus plays the main role and arrive at the ruins of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Tina. Continue to the Hermitage of Emeterio. Just past the Hermitage you come to stairs that lead you down steeply to the cave of Pindal. The cave is only open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. From the cave you walk a short distance through forest to reach a paved road. Here you turn left and follow the road until the first dirt road you encounter on your right. Take the dirt road and you will go next to a water pool to arrive at meadows where there is a ruin of a farm. Here you follow the grass path that takes you to the cliffs. Once you leave the meadow you follow goat paths to the edge of the cliffs of the Cala El Regolgueru. Here you have to watch out for the gorse. You follow the edge of the cliff in a southerly direction as much as possible. You see high above the viewpoint of the Mirador del Picu, this is your end goal. You go up steeply over the ridge, sometimes through some forest, to arrive at the viewpoint. If you can't find the right path, it's best to take the same way back to WP1 on the map. Here you turn right and follow Rd-1, which climbs steeply to the viewpoint. From the Mirador, follow a footpath next to Rd-1 until you return to the village.

Cliffs of Pimiango

Some sense of orientation is required for the section from WP 1 up to the Mirador del Picu. If you can't find the right path you can go back to WP1 and take the road on the right (Rd-1) that goes up to the Mirador del Picu viewpoint.
