POI 1 - Alpe Money.

The name has nothing to do with money. It is thought to be pre-Roman for 'shared pastures'. Similar words also exist in Gaelic, 'moneth' and in Irish 'moin' with the same meaning. The pastures belonged to past herders, who brought sheep, goats and cows high into the mountains in summer to take advantage of the lush pastures. Transhumance, the movement of livestock to pasture, has been practiced in the area for hundreds of years, and while it is now rare, the Italian government has asked for this traditional practice to be recognized by UNESCO as part of its Intangible Cultural Heritage.
