Frankenbach valley

The hike goes from Manderfeld to the picturesque valley of the Frankenbach and then goes through a mixed forest to the valley of the Our. The Our rises on the 653 meter high Eichelsberg near Manderfeld. Via the hamlet of Weckerath you walk through beautiful open countryside back to Manderfeld.

Valley of the Our.

The walk starts at the church at walking node 7. You go through the village and follow the N626 for a fairly long part. About 200 meters past the roundabout, turn left and immediately turn left again. The road soon turns into a dirt road. Through a piece of mixed forest you reach the valley of the Frankenbach. You follow this meandering stream for a long time before finally starting a steep climb through the forest. At the border with Germany you reach the valley of the Our. You follow the Our on German territory and cross the border again in the direction of the hamlet of Weckerath. Through a beautiful open landscape you walk back in the direction of the Our, which you cross again to go back to Manderfeld.
