The valley of the Olefbach.

The hike descends through a mixed forest on quiet forest roads into the Olefbach valley on the border with Germany. The Johnny Nysten bridge is a reminder of the fate of the soldier who, shortly after the war, helped the German population to smuggle goods. He was executed cold-blooded on arrest. Then you start to climb back up via unpaved roads and some pieces of asphalt to the starting point. The whole area is traffic free, you will not come across a car.

POI 1 - Memorial Hasselpath.

In the forests to the north of Rocherath you will find a living memory of the Ardennes offensive in December 1944. Through the 800 meter route, 100 meters after the information sign to the left, you get an image of the shelters and and battle pits in which soldiers entrenched themselves with their machine guns and grenade launchers. Rusted eating utensils and weapon parts complete the memory. Especially the rebuilt field hospital of the Americans certainly appeals to the imagination.
